Workshops: Periodontics for one and all

Periodontal therapy has evolved over the years but it still remains an extremely meticulous and painstaking process involving multiple sites which not only have to be treated, but also monitored consistently over years to maintain the periodontal health of the patient.  This workshop will take the delegate through one of the most important but ignored aspects, that of recording and assessing the amount of damage that has taken place around the tooth. It will explain the importance of the correct tools in the form of periodontal probes and charting software to be able to visualize the pattern of periodontal damage. Then the next aspect of diagnosis will be deliberated at length. Having arrived at a diagnosis the rationale for non surgical management will be discussed. The pros and cons of methods for debridement will be covered and then will be followed by the variety of local drug delivery options that can be employed.  This workshop will allow the delegates to actually look and feel the periodontal probes, charting software with real life patient results,  scaling tips and their handling and a feel of a few of the local delivery drugs for periodontal therapy.
